Tyres are the only part of the car touching the road, and alignment decides how evenly they wear. A car that pulls or chews the edge off a front tyre is usually out of alignment, not faulty.

Tyre cost depends on size and brand. Alignment is a flat charge unless suspension components need adjusting or replacing first.
