Most no-start situations are the battery, but not all of them. Replacing a battery when the alternator is not charging leaves you stranded again a week later, so we test the whole charging system rather than just swapping the obvious part.
Engine cranks slowly or clicks
Battery goes flat if the car sits a few days
Headlights dim at idle
Battery or charging warning light on
Battery load test under real conditions
Alternator output and charging voltage tested
Starter motor draw tested
Parasitic drain testing for batteries that go flat overnight
Battery supply, fitting and registration where required
Wiring and earth-point fault tracing
Lighting and accessory circuit repairs
Battery cost depends on size and type. Start-stop vehicles need AGM or EFB batteries, which cost more and must be registered to the car's electrical system.
We quote before starting. If the job changes once the car is on the hoist, we call you rather than adding it to the invoice.
